The drunking metal punk hellbeat juggernaut known as HOT GRAVES lapsed into disarray after a final show in 2015 with ATL buddies WHORES, when life had cast band priorities to the wind for pretty much all parties involved. Before this, however, a bunch ov new songs had been written and demoed out in some form or another, between rehearsals and planned recording experiments. What we present here is the most fully-realized ov the demo material HG recorded during that time.

Songs 1-5 were recorded by Mark Rodriguez at his warehouse studio / rehearsal space, where HG recorded the “Fashion Victim” 7” EP that came out on Bigger Boat Records. This time, however, HG had the mighty WHITEY on 2nd guitar, and had just played an extended weekend ov shows around Florida (with the likes ov DRUID LORD and KILLING ADDICTION no less!), so capturing a recording ov the band as a live unit was imperative. The songs recorded in this session were a mix ov 3 new songs being workshopped at the time, and 2 from the KNIGHTS IN WHITE PHOSPHORUS album that had been lurking around the current live setlist. You can hear HOT GRAVES as a well-rehearsed HELL BEAT machine in this blown-out, extra necro recording. What you hear is live how we played it.. no overdubs except for vocals.

Songs 6-8 were recorded where HG rehearsed throughout 2013, which was in a converted garage in the country hell Myk was living through in Alachua, FL. These demos were multitracked and then somewhat forgotten for a number ov years, when they were discovered and finished off with extra guitar and finally-written-and-recorded vocals and are presented to you here now in their raw state. You can hear subtle differences in the versions between different demos, but most ov these songs had been fully realized by that time. “Mourning The Death ov a Dream” is a look into the very eyes ov depression itself, and trying to analyze its true nature. The only vaguely political song that HOT GRAVES ever wrote is featured here, in the ballistic headsmash ov “Burning Flags” you’ll find a message behind the vitriol. “Decay In Death”, yet another bad-spirited spell cast upon a scorned unfortunate, but done so in brutish thrashy fashion.

After the final show, drummer Matt had already moved away to South Florida to pursue a better life, and bassist Hutch also continued to step up his personal life and musical game, so HOT GRAVES was left in a state ov dead incubation, as Myk continued to spiral into horrendous shit that led to the writing and recording ov a whole new HG album in total isolation… Which will be coming soon… Stay tuned.
